The dramaturgy of “The Universe’s Lament” for piano and symphonic orchestra is based on the contrast of two images: a global catastrophe leading to the demise of humanity, and the universe mourning it in silence. The theme of the universe, initially representing an isolated and impersonal realm, inevitably engages with the human world as it progresses toward the climax.
